I am grateful for the chance to delve into the enchantment of winter through artistic expression. The symbolism of winter varies across different cultures or regions. I come from Neralakere, a place with 200 houses situated near Hassan city in the southern part of the Indian state of Karnataka. Hassan has a tropical savanna climate with an average temperature of 22.1 °C (71.8 °F). My first encounter with experiencing all 4 seasons was when I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to pursue my master’s education. I felt cold to the bones during winter, something different than what I had known my whole life which made me realize that my ground had slipped and I did not know where I was any more in my life. In those 5 years, with the arrival of each winter, I grew deep as an individual and understood more about myself. Throughout the darkest hours of those years, it was a journey of discovery of my passion, which was something other than what I was working on my whole life. I now live in Cleveland, USA. I have finally gathered the courage to act wholeheartedly on my passion which is “art that shows our oneness with the universe”. I had my first art exhibit in the USA in Beachwood Gallery, Ohio. As I drank from the cup of memory while I was painting the canvases for this exhibit, which was centered around the captivating theme of "Winter Wonderland," “, I came to realize and appreciate the importance of winter in all our lives.
What emotions does the winter season evoke for you?
For me, winter represents a season of profound learning and reflection. Winter unfolds as a season of introspection and metamorphosis, mirroring the cyclical journey of nature—beginning with the blossoming renewal of Spring, transitioning into the sunlit bliss of Summer, embracing the rustic tranquility of Autumn and culminating in the frosty serenity of Winter.
Winter becomes a gentle teacher, guiding us through a transformative journey. As nature adorns itself in a tranquil and pristine blanket of snow, a serene stillness envelops everything, creating an illusion of calm and slumber. In this quietude, we are inspired to turn inward, delving deep into our emotions and thoughts, and engaging in moments of profound reflection and contemplation. Winter, with its hushed beauty, invites us to explore the inner landscapes of our being.
I take immense pride in unveiling the intricate inner and outer landscapes of my art, aspiring to awaken your senses and instill a yearning for uncharted waters within. With this immersive experience, my sincere hope is that you explore and discover a deeper connection with nature and yourself, to release the old and frosty elements, allowing them to gracefully melt away. My artwork showcased at the Winter Wonderland exhibition aimed to illuminate lesser-discussed facets of winter, encouraging viewers to engage in self-reflection. In addition, I strive to infuse elements of connectivity into my work, allowing viewers to relate to the object/painting through concepts that resonate with their own experiences while also transcending mere sense perception. My aim is for the viewer to connect with the painting as something grounded in earthly realities or personal memories, yet also as something ethereal, existing in the vastness of the universe.
